So I’m sitting by a huge window soaking up some much needed vitamin D and enjoying a few minutes of silence. It wont last long, my 2 children and my niece are enjoying a game of “good guys” in the basement of my parents house, but soon enough they’ll all be back up and jumping off furniture and causing the usual ruckus. I learned long ago how to “tune out” unwanted noise, and rarely even notice how loud the house has actually become until my partner (or my dad in this case!) comes home and makes a comment referring to an insane asylum.
For those who dont know, I am currently pregnant with my 3rd and alsmost certianly my last (due to health reasons) baby, and although I always pride myself on being one of “those” women who adores every aspect of pregnancy, im realizing how much more exhausting each pregnancy becomes when you’re already a mom. Ive been lucky enough to be able to stay at home for most of this pregnancy but certainly havent been sleeping any more.
I reached the halfway point last week, and within a week have noticed a huge change in my expanding abdomen .
I have two little boys and while i’ll be very happy with another boy, I do find myself constantly hoping im carrying a girl this time. 😉 Anyone who knows me , knows how badly I want a daughter, and i’ll use any excuse I can to try to assure myself im carrying differently. (hehehe) for example, I have been MUCH moodier in the past 20 weeks than I ever was with my sons (I know, its my 3rd baby and im getting next to no sleep!) but hey, girls are moody right? could it be a sign??
I’m carrying pretty much the same as I did before, all out front, which I know is an old wives tale for carrying a boy, but we’ll just ignore that one and say im one of those lucky women who doesnt look pregnant from the back ;-
The back pain has kicked in hard core and im assuming I will likely have back labor again, as I did with both my other babies.
Being a doula and being pregnant has been fun. It’s my partner’s (and I refer to him as that because I can’t help but feel slighty ghetto calling him my baby daddy :-p ) first time being a parent and he couldnt be more excited. He’s been there for every appointment and last night had his first dream about what our baby might look like (a dream about a boy might I add!) Having experience both from giving birth naturally, and attending plenty of births as womens’ doula, Im able to teach him the tricks of the trade and he is becoming quite the expert at the double hip squeeze .
Aside from the heartburn, moodswings, and off the charts cravings, I’m still enjoying this pregnancy, and trying take in every kick or hiccup, and being so thankful that I am going to be blessed with another precious child.
So I realize this post had little to do with facts of pregnancy, but I just thought i’d give you all a little glimpse into my life lately. I’d take the noise and the mess and the tantrums anyday, because even though there are days I feel like im going to rip my hair out , I love pregnancy, being a mother and wouldnt trade it for the world!
